Scott Police Department

Being a Scott Police Officer starts with completing and graduating the POST Police Academy and being state certified. Once this is done, training is far from over.

In the second year of his administration, Chief Chad Leger established a field-training program with the goal of producing highly trained police officers to serve the City of Scott. Chief Leger’s field training officers were nationally certified through the Institute of Police Technology and Management at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. The 40 hour course is a standardized, nationally accepted police-training model to introduce rookie officers to the latest law enforcement tactics, traffic crash investigation and many other area important for public safety.

The FTO Program is broken down in three 84 hour phases-a total of 252 hours of training for the rookie. Officers, who successfully complete the Scott Police Department’s FTO Program, begin their law enforcement careers better trained and ready to accept the challenges they are sure to encounter in their day to day efforts to protect and serve.
